Storm knocks out power for thousands in Richmond area

A quick-moving summer thunderstorm knocked out power for thousands of customers in the Richmond area on Thursday night.
According to Dominion Energy, there were 38,092 customers without power in Henrico, 15,504 in Hanover, 8,804 in Richmond city and 5,592 in Chesterfield.
The company has mobilized crews to begin restoration work, and in a social media post, reminded people to stay away from downed power lines.
